Artist's Comments

Part four. The format is different cause it was meant to take more space in the final cd cover layout.

The little dude is getting out, finally.

"With my feet upon the ground I lose myself
between the sounds and open wide to suck it in,
I feel it move across my skin.
I'm reaching up and reaching out,
I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been
"

if this is like the rest in the series and all made with metal, how did you create the great lightening (is it supposed to be lightening/some kind of electricity?) which is goin all around the figure?
i really like the pose and narrowness of this =)

Yes... it's a lightning.... well, some kind of lightning. I used this to symbolise a passage through another dimension or something... (refer to tool's "Lateralus" lyrics)

It was created with those sparkling thingy we put on birthday cakes (hell, I really don't know how it's called, you know...those little metal wire with some black stuff over it that you light up, then it's makes tons of sparks for about 30 seconds and then it dies...). I just waved one of this thing around the little character while taking a long exposure shot. I had to do it something like 30 to 40 times to get the perfect shape I was looking for... but there it is... :)

Hehe...

Ciao !

very cool, one of my favorite songs, and a totally different take on it than I had envisioned listening to the song, but I freakin love the detail and concept. great stuff.

Thanks a lot. That's one of the thing I like about Tool's music... It gives you visions of what he's talkin' about... but it's not descriptive enough to make the vision the same for everyone.

this is most cool made - if you didnt say, i wouldnt believe its a sculpture but would instead think of this is a painting. excellent work mate
:iconmartinljnielsen:
and talking about visions: had a great one while listening to the blurry last song of 10,000days the other day: red, hellish atmosphere right in the middle of the street
:iconmichaeljack:
I love that !
